lead from Sabah
PULAU PINANG continued their domination in the Ninth Malaysia
Games (Sukma) after three days of competition, adding one
more gold, one silver and two bronze medals to their tally.The
haul earned them 14 points and boost their overall medal
count to seven gold, one silver and five bronze medals.

the quality to spring surprises come September. Although
the team coached by former Indian international coach C.
R. Kumar lacks match temperament or exposure when compared
to their peninsula counterparts, but with homeground advantage
behind them, they are capable of taking on the top teams
in the Ninth Malaysia Games (Sukma 2002).

KOTA KINABALU: With exactly a month away volunteers
for the Ninth Malaysia Games (Sukma 2002) are fully prepared
to provide the best service to the organisers. Sabah Sukom
Volunteer 98 president Jamal Jinal said some 100 of his
members confirmed their participation to volunteer their
services at the Sabah Sukma from Sept 5 to 14.

Sukma Penang 2000 mascot Chombee (centre) handing over the
Sukma torch to Bayau, local mascot for Sukma Sabah 2002,
at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport Thursday. Bayau
(or friend) reflects the proboscis monkey endemic to the
Borneo Island, with the most popular viewing spots for tourists
being in the Kinabatangan area (east coast) and Klias Peninsular
(west coast).
