Sabah a strong contender: Jamil
(23 July 2002) CULTURE, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk
Yahya Hussin led the Ninth Malaysia Games (Sukma 2002)
promotion delegation to Kuala Lumpur recently.
During the trip, Yahya, who is also Sukma organising committee
chairman, paid a courtesy call on National Deputy Police
Commissioner Tan Sri Datuk Jamil Johari at the latter's
office in Bukit Aman.
During the meeting, the Deputy Police Commissioner said
he is confident that Sabah will be able to host the Games
successfully.
This he said is based on the full support given by the
participating teams.
He said Sabah could give a tough challenge to other competing
teams, especially with the full support of the public.
As for the Police contingent, Jamil said their participation
in Sukma is not merely to win medals, but also aimed at
closing the rapport between Police and the participating
athletes and officers.
Yahya also made a courtesy call on Kuala Lumpur City Mayor
Col. Datuk Shaid Mohd Taufek at Wisma Dewan Bandaraya.
He also met with Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSC)
